Matthews Maple Syrup in Powassan

Take some time this year to go visit a Maple Syrup producer north of Muskoka, Ontario.  In the Near North, Parry Sound and Almaguin Highlands area there are a number of them to choose from.
Matthews Maple Syrup is located at 239 Ski Hill Road in Powassan, Ontario.  The north has so much to offer for children in regards to learning experiences.  The education that kids get from visiting so many businesses in the north to see how things are made is fantastic.
Take your kids out this year in March and let them experience how things are made.  They are open year round but you have to call to make an appointment.  You can purchase product from them that the whole family can enjoy.
Take some time to visit my blogs to read on things to do in the Almaguin Highlands.  This area has so much to offer for everyone year round.  I also own a Cottage Resort called Sand Lake Cottages & Inn also located in the Almaguin Highlands.

Ontario Maple Syrup near Ontario Cottage Resorts

On March 12th Wednesday during March break my family and I decided to hit the snowmobile trials from Sand Lake in Kearney with our friends to enjoy a day of snowmobiling. I must say this was my favorite day this year to spend on the OFSC trails in the Almaguin Highlands.

The sky was blue, the temperature was perfect and the trails were exceptional. It is hard to believe that during March break the trails could be so perfect.

It is so amazing to see the beauty that surrounds us in Cottage Country. The Almaguin Highlands is situated north of Huntsville Muskoka and near Algonquin Park. The trail conditions in this area seems to always be really great. This year 2007/2008 the trails have been in great condition since the beginning of December. I have lived here for almost 8 years and this is my favorite winter season so far. The temperature has been great for the small kids to ride and the snow conditions are the best.

Every time we ride we experience something special. On Wednesday we noticed a stand on the trails but there was nobody there. We stopped our sleds and noticed that someone was selling Ontario Maple Syrup. It was an honor system. G.H. Blakelock Goldie's Maple Comedy with their business located in Huntsville had a Money box with lots of money in it for change and also from people purchasing Ontario Maple Syrup. I decided to purchase some myself. Wow it is great to see that he was comfortable enough to sell his product on the trail system without actually being there. I was told that he has been doing this for years. They sold Maple cookies also. The kids loved the cookies and enjoyed eating them.

We finished off the day at Sand Lake playing around on the lake with the mini kid sleds. It was a great day to enjoy over March break in the Almaguin Highlands near the town of Kearney, Burks Falls and Pickerel Lake.
